Obituary

Mr. Ira Eugene Pigg, age 73, of Florence, died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at E.C.M. Hospital following an extended illness. He was a native of Lutts, Tennessee and had lived in Lauderdale County for 23 years.

Mr. Pigg was a Church of Christ minister for over 54 years. He ministered in several states and overseas in Russia and was the minister at the Cloverdale Church of Christ for over 20 years. Visitation will be today, June 20, 2004 from 2-5 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, June 21, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Cloverdale Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Derrel Davis and Fred Dillon.

Mr. Pigg's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Mr. Pigg is preceded in death by his first wife; Imogene Kirk Pigg, mother; Pearl Pigg, two brothers; Eldred and Carlton Ray Pigg, and stepson Michael McFall. He is survived by his wife; Shirley Bratton Pigg of Florence, father; Vernon Pigg, son; Gentry Pigg and wife Theresa of Lyles Tennessee, three step-sons; Rodney McFall, Nicholas McFall, and Chadwick Fielder, daughter; Diane Johnston and husband Mark of Dyersburg Tennessee, three brothers; Harold and Horace Pigg of Florence and Jimmy Pigg of North Liberty Indiana, three sisters; Margaret Miles of Florence, Melba Richeson of Chesterfield Missouri, and June Barrier of Florence, four grandchildren; Russell Pigg, Tabitha Dowdy, Shawn Johnston, and Aaron Johnston, two great grandchildren, Clara and Ella Dowdy.

Pallbearers will be Maury Miles, Marold Pigg, Daniel Pigg, Derek Pigg, Ryan Barrier, and Kerry Barrier. Honorary pallbearers will include the Elders, Deacons, and the young men of the Cloverdale congregation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mars Hill Bible School. Greenview Funeral Home, Florence, is directing.

Directions To The Grave of Eugene Pigg

Eugene Pigg is buried in the Pine Hill church of Christ Cemetery in north Lauderdale County, Alabama. From Florence, head out Hwy. 133, Cox Creek Parkway, to the end, and turn right on Hwy. 20. Go north 14.6 miles and turn right on Lauderdale County Rd. 8. Go a 9/10ths of a mile and turn left on Lauderdale County Rd. 10. Go 1.1 miles and enter the church cemetery on the right. The McCorkle plot is in the very front row, next to another preacher, George McCorkle. One row behind will be another preacher. Derrel Davis.
